A career spent running toward the thing everyone else runs away from.

I spent my working life as a firefighter and an EMT. That job teaches you a way of looking at a building that does not go away when you take the helmet off. You learn where fires start, where water gets in, and which shortcuts somebody took twenty years ago. You learn to check the thing twice, because the second look is usually the one that matters.

Retired now, I put that to work on houses. I inspect homes, decks and multifamily properties. I take care of the outside of the property too — the lawn, the snow, the concrete, the asphalt, the siding, and the garbage cans nobody wants to think about. And I shoot the photos and video that show a property properly.

It is the same idea every time: find what is actually wrong, tell you plainly, and do the work the way I would want it done on my own house.
